Yep, right on to episode two, pun-ishing title and all. We are catapulted right into the story with Harry being called in to consult a man who feels the spirit of his dead daughter has been calling to him. While Harry is at first skeptical, he then has a vision, where he sees directly through the eyes of the spirit her last moments: a shotgun to the chest, a fall to the floor, and a criminal by the name of Gus Boone stealing an ancient Egyptian tablet the girl, Lisa’s, father had in his possession. Obviously, as the title implies, Boone is an important part of this mystery, and an integral facet to getting Lisa to rest. There’s just one problem: Boone himself was killed shortly after the robbery.

And what better to start with than a 12-episode, short-lived series based on the books that shaped my view of urban fantasy more than any other? That’s right, folks, we’ll be looking at episode 1 of Sci-Fi’s The Dresden Files television series.

If you’re worried about “name power” clouding my view of this show, don’t worry. As Jim Butcher himself has said, this is basically an alternate universe, because the stories have little connection to the actual DF books. I’ll note and major differences I feel like noting, but otherwise I’ll be treating this on its own merits for my final score.
