So, if you haven’t noticed lately, and you surely have, I’ve got a beef. That beef is with intolerance and bigotry cloaking itself under religion as if it were a Kryptonian cape. As such, I plan on interspersing my already-present review and ranting categories with one specifically dedicated to religious fundamentalism’s fail fiction and “knowledge books”. Now, I’m not the first one to do this. Indeed, I stand on the shoulders of giants such as Slacktivist (oh hey, there’s talk of John Hagee again), Heathen Critique, Apocalypsereview, and Confessions of a Former Conservative when I make this endeavor. Still, I’d like to think I could contribute something to the fundamentalist-combing people of the Internet with my own personal observations and style. So, without further adieu, I’d like to see a vote on which of the following titles (description and poll after the cutoff) you, the viewers, wish for me to go into a read-through of first. The poll closes in a week, so get your votes in now. Read the rest of this entry »

John Hagee’s Jesus
My parents’ fundamentalist bile passed on to them by John Hagee’s television seminars pissed me off again yesterday, especially with the pro-fundamentalist revisionism of the Medieval bubonic plague. My attempts to avoid confrontation always end when we basically have to meet up again as a family over something. As such, I am going to do a little list venting and veer off my usual territory, especially out of my frustrations that any of my notations of errors, contradictions, and downright racist/sexist/generally disturbing arguments my parents make are only met with statements of “you should respect your father” and “‘political correctness’ (or at least their definition of it, which is basically anything beyond outright hate speech) is a sign of surrender, and Jesus wouldn’t want that”. So, definite trigger warnings on religion for this post. Skip it if you want, as the final part of the Testament review will be up in a few minutes. Read the rest of this entry »
What Happens Next?
After a rather unpleasant day yesterday, to say the least, I have turned my thoughts towards something fresh for the blog. This isn’t to say I’m abandoning all those reviews I’ve started that have gathered dust; it’s just that I don’t do a lot of the same thing often for the sheer fact that it becomes tedious to me, and I write what brings me personal enjoyment at the time. So, anyway, I was planning on one of several things to be the next installment of series on this blog. These could be either:
1. A blind reading of Animorphs. I’ve never read one of them before, but I understand the general premise, so there you go.
2. Reviews of Supernatural: the Animation (or “Supernatural: the Anime Series” as this DVD box states). This comes without the burden of having seen much of the live action series.
Feel free to leave in the comments which one you would rather see.
Just Another Picture Post
In lieu of a new review just yet, especially when I’ve been doing other writings besides for this blog lately, here’s another photo of some of the stuff in my collection of things. Read the rest of this entry »
The Blog’s Not Dead Yet!
Yeah, I know, this blog’s never had a great schedule, so it doesn’t seem that noteworthy to point that out. Still, I wanted to say that I’ve gotten out of a recent funk where my writing felt unimportant and unwanted. With that funk gone, hopefully there will be a new RPG review within a day or two…or three…or fifteen…whatever.
The new reviews will also be somewhat tweaked compared to the old. After some discussion with those that watch my blog, it seems that it’d be a step forward to retool “Final Thoughts” from an often overly simplistic blurb to a pros and cons system.
A Picture of Part of my Resource Library to Tide You Over
What it says in the title. There will hopefully be more substantial material on this blog from me soon.

On D&D and Baseball
Hello humans.
It’s been a long time, hasn’t it? I know. I’ve been focusing my attention on a lot of OTHER things in the past year, and I haven’t had much time to write about games in that stretch. The one time I did wasn’t even on this blog. >.> It was quite ranty, too. Written merely a day after I gathered up all my old D&D dice in my Crown Royal bag and bashed it on the sidewalk. Let’s put it this way: At the end of the day, I was severely questioning the validity of the (pre-4th Edition) d20 system as a way of accurately measuring characters’ skills at something. Photo Post: When the Waters Rise
I have few words here, mostly images for my viewers. I will say, however, that I am awed at the raw power of nature that has been displayed in my state, and that I have seen first-hand the repercussions of events that last occurred before I was even born. Read the rest of this entry »
Of God and Gambo: Cryptozoology, Christian Fiction, and Creationism
Hey folks, the mistress of missing updates is back at the blog writing helm. So far, the Spring of Dinosaur RPGs is kind of turning out to be a bust, so I may just have it extend into summer, and even then it may be sporadic. And as if that wasn’t enough, my laptop’s DVD/CD drive, meaning no reviews of Dinotopia: the Series until who-knows-when it’s fixed, because I’m sure as hell not spending any cash on some iTunes of it when I already wasted cash back when the DVD came out and I was too curious to see it for my own good. And then I started becoming more and more busy at work and home, had a virus outbreak on my computer, etc., etc. As such, I was more or less tempted to ramble on about a topic that was on my mind: this one. Warning, here be dragons by the name of Politics and Religion, so turn your ship back toward port if that offends or disinterests you. Read the rest of this entry »
An Important Notice
I hate having pinned news entries that are too long, so I’ll skip any storytelling or verbosity and just give you the damn news.
New reviews of Dinotopia: the Series episodes and any other screenshotted DVD-based media are postponed indefinitely on account of broken CD/DVD drive. That is all.
UPDATE: This problem is now fixed. Hurrah!
